As a candidate for the Carroll County Board of Education, he is committed to supporting students, empowering teachers, and working with parents to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed. Education should challenge students academically while also supporting their growth, creativity, and well-being. Cleveland is focused on bringing thoughtful leadership, transparency, and community collaboration to the Board of Education. Together, we can ensure Carroll County schools continue to prepare students for the future while honoring the values that make our community strong.

His twin daughters graduated from Carroll County schools in 2023.

Savanah is currently attending Temple University in Philadelphia, where she is studying nursing and will graduate in May 2027.

Sierrah, also a Temple University student, will graduate a year early in May 2026 and has already been accepted to law school beginning in the fall.

His youngest child, Sonomah currently attends Sandymount Elementary School and will continue her education at Shiloh Middle School next year
As both a longtime public servant and a parent with children currently in the school system, Cleveland understands how important it is for schools to provide students with strong academic opportunities, supportive environments, and the tools they need to succeed.Cleveland is running for the Carroll County Board of Education to ensure that every student in the county has access to the same strong educational foundation that helped his own children thrive.
Meet Cleveland

Cleveland Friday has dedicated nearly three decades to public service in the State of Maryland. Over the course of a 28-year career, he held several leadership roles, ultimately serving as the Commissioner of Pretrial Detention and Services, where he was responsible for overseeing critical public safety and justice programs.

Cleveland and his family have proudly called Carroll County home for the past 18 years. Him and his wife, Tamie, chose to move to the county because of its strong reputation for excellent schools and a supportive community.
As a father of four children who have grown up in Carroll County schools, Cleveland has seen firsthand the impact that dedicated teachers, strong academic programs, and supportive school communities have on students' lives.

His oldest daughter, Shyanne, graduated from the University of Miami and is now launching her own business while preparing for graduate school.
